Who We Are
JCCMI is an orphanage and school that was founded in 1999 by Martha Kapawolokpala. She was a survivor of the Liberian Civil War. During this war thousands of children lost their parents and loved ones. The outbreak of EBOLA further worsened the crisis for the orphans within the community.
Martha had continued to lead JCCMI until her untimely passing in April 2020.
Martha's sister, Comfort, with the support of her husband, friends and volunteer board members stepped in to assist in continuing the operation of the JCCMI orphanage in providing care, education, encouragement and hope for these children.
The JCCMI is comprised of an orphanage and a school.
The orphanage currently administers to the need of 65 children ranging in ages from 2 to 18 years, while the school accommodates 250 students from the surrounding communities from pre-school to 12th grade.
Located in White Plains, Liberia, the ministry, and school sit on 10 acres of prime land sufficient to accommodate future expansion and development. We also provide accommodations in Monrovia for 15 young adults who attend colleges or technical schools.
Martha’s Village
This orphanage plays a crucial role in their community by providing care, support, and a safe environment for children who have lost their parents. They provide essential resources that these children lack including food, shelter, clothing, medical care and education.
Once the children’s basic needs are met, we hope to be able to secure a more supportive and consistent learning environment with the addition of increased teaching staff and educational technology tools.
This emphasis will enable our children to continue developing skills that will empower them to lead independent and successful lives. An emphasis will be on “paying it forward” so that as the children learn they will teach others their newly mastered skills. Our goal is to offer after school programs for the children, extracurricular activities and vocational training to further equip these children, and those who come after them, with the tools needed to navigate adulthood.
We provide a safe haven for children in need, offering not just shelter, but also education, healthcare, emotional support and most of all HOPE for the future.
